Possible Side Effects: 


Fluoxetine can cause numerous side effects in animals. This medicine should not be administered in animals with known hypersensitivity or allergy to the drug.
Dogs: Sedation and anorexia are the most-commonly reported side-effects. Other side-effects include GI upset and behavior changes anxiety, irritability, hyperactivity and insomnia. Aggression very uncommon and seizures also have been reported.
Cats: Anorexia and behavior changes anxiety, irritability, hyperactivity/insomnia and elimination behavior are the most-commonly reported side-effects in cats. Anorexia is a common enough side-effect in the cat that the client should monitor the cat's appetite and weight.

Precautions:

Fluoxetine must not be prescribed for animals with a history of seizures. Fluoxetine usually is not prescribed for animals with diabetes mellitus or seizure disorders. Animals with impaired liver-function may need reduced a dose.
Keep out of reach of children and pets.
Only administer this product to the pet it was prescribed for.
Do not adjust the dosage without your veterinarian's permission.

Possible Drug Interactions:

Before giving your pet Fluoxetine to your pet it is important to discuss with your veterinarian the possibility of Fluoxetine interacting with other medications your pet is currently taking. The drugs which normally interact with Fluoxetine include monoamine oxidase inhibitors selegiline, diazepam, phenylbutazone, digoxin or buspirone, acepromazine, amitraz including the flea/tick collars and dips buspirone, cyproheptadine, alprazolam, diuretics, insulin, isoniazid, pentazocine, phenytoin, propanolol, metoprolol, tramadol, tricyclic antidepressants, trazodone and warfarin.
