Q. We are taking the dogs to Alaska this summer and I'm concerned about mosquitoes & biting flies.  Will K9 Advantix  be enough or should I use something else as well…spray, topical, etc?

A. Thank you for your question. That is a very good concern to have.

I do not have any experience in Alaska, however, I do understand the mosquitoes in the summer can be very big and bad.

With the information I have read and in my experience K9 Advantix would be your best and safest choice to help repel mosquitoes and biting flies.

According to Bayer, the maker of K9 Advantix, it repels mosquitoes and biting flies very well for 14 days but is less effective after 21 days.

You may want to use a repellant to help keep the flies off your dogs if you will be there for more than three weeks, especially if they will be outside for long periods of time.

Otherwise, if your visit will be under 2-3 weeks I would think you should have no problems with the K9 Advantix.

If your dogs will be indoors most of the time it may not be an issue as long as you apply the K9 Advantix  every 30 days according to label instructions.
